Our Story

The birth of an idea is usually from necessity, and that’s the case with the PochadePalette™.

Recently, I received an invitation to go landscape painting by a close friend. After thinking about excuses of ways to cancel, I reluctantly committed to going out. It may seem odd for an artist to deliberate so long about going to paint. The reality that I almost turned down the opportunity was stirring something inside me; the amount of gear one needs to create a quick sketch was mind-boggling. That’s when I knew the PochadePalette™ had to become a reality and not just another idea tossed out into the wind.

I’m genuinely excited to say that I have spent more time than ever painting outdoors, now that I have the PochadePalette™.

You can be comforted knowing that this is something you will never discard. We have worked hard to ensure that everything was pre-selected for the best quality possible and assembled individually by hand, right here in Massachusetts.

My wife and I sincerely hope that you enjoy the PochadePalette™ as much as we have and that you can create new memories by doing what you love more often.

“The quality of the PochadePalette™ is phenomenal. Each aspect is well-conceived, for studio work or outdoor sketching.”

The PochadePalette™ holds comfortably in your non-dominant hand, acting as a horizontal or slightly horizontal Multidirectional surface to mix your paint. At the same time, the panel is sustained on the upper portion of the apparatus by magnets. There are similar ideas on the market. One popular one is called a thumb-box, which has a hole in the bottom of a tiny Pochade Box, allowing you to hold the box instead of placing it on a tripod. However, the advantage to the PochadePalette™ is two-fold.

  • The placement of the hole used to sustain the PochadePalette™ is in a unique position.

  • Another essential design specification is the addition of a leather pocket for holding brushes.

The position of the hole is different from a traditional sketch box, allowing for the center of gravity to rest over the palm and fingers. (See below) Holding the PochadePalette™ is similar to how a waiter may have a tray of drinks.

Another critical design specification unique to the PochadePalette™ is the addition of a leather pocket for the brushes to be sustained without using your fingers. This feature lets you place up to twelve brushes in the pouch and not use any effort straining your grip. The leather also creates just the right amount of tension on the brushes to sustain them from falling to the ground.
