Seeing Color in Three Dimensions - Days 1 + 2 December 14th - 15th 11:00 AM EST - 2:00 PM EST

$250.00

Mixing color with paint doesn't have to be guesswork. In this two-day livestream workshop, I'll show you exactly how I think about color, using an interactive tool I built around the Munsell system. This exciting development will allow me to illustrate for the first time a precise language for hue, value and chroma and how that corresponds with tonal harmonies. Every color has an exact address. In Munsell's system, each hue, value and chroma sits at a specific point in a three-dimensional structure. With this new interactive format, I'll show you that from the moment you learn where your palette colors live in space, harmony stops being a matter of luck. You will begin to see how colors relate, cluster and support each other, and you will create harmonious paintings on purpose. We'll also look in real time at how medium and ground change the way paint behaves, which most color charts leave out entirely. From there, we'll look at master paintings like Sargent, Monet and others, each mapped as a three-dimensional cloud of up to 50,000 colors notations! You'll see at a glance how tight their color harmony really was and how you can have a breakthrough in your work as well. We will then apply the same lens to my own paintings and walk you through how I see, mix and harmonize color so that you never have to guess again.
